Given their love of the sea, it was only fitting that Dory and Steven were married onboard a classic sailboat in the Virgin Islands in March of 2020! After several years of preparing to shift into a new life chapter, with the intention of living more mindfully and having greater time freedom, Dory and Steven purchased Estella in Europe in November of 2024. Several months later, they completed a transatlantic from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean to enjoy winter in the tropics – eventually sailing Estella north to Bermuda and ultimately back home to New England to establish Estella Yacht Charters on Nantucket.
Dory & Steven have shared passions for sailing, travel, and the sea! Having grown up in the charming seaside village of Rockport, Massachusetts, Dory has always appreciated the beauty and tranquility of coastal living. Shortly after college, Dory combined her love of sailing and travel while spending several years living aboard a 63 ft. sailboat. During this time, she cruised extensively throughout the Bahamas and the Caribbean, as well as having completed two transatlantic crossings to/from the Mediterranean. Dory received her Master’s Degree from Boston College and, prior to launching Estella Yacht Charters, she had a highly rewarding career in the helping professions, including her own private psychotherapy practice. Dory remains passionate about health and wellness, mindfulness, travel, and yoga.
Steven grew up on the North Shore of Long Island. He has fond childhood memories of time spent on the water, including a summer living aboard his family’s sailboat. From a very young age, Steven knew he wanted to pursue a life and career at sea. After graduating from Maine Maritime Academy, he spent many years working as a Deck Officer, traveling throughout the world on various types of commercial vessels. Steven currently holds a Deck Officer License (unlimited) and a USCG 1600 GRT Master Captain’s License with a current STCW. In his leisure time, Steven enjoys hiking, music, and he is an avid reader.
